One Weekend a Month
“No mother wants to hear her Unit’s being deployed to Iraq.”
Dramatic short
11:30
Director: Eric Escobar
It’s just another crazy Monday morning for single mom Meg McDermott, when her telephone rings. The caller delivers news that will turn her life, and the lives of her children, upside down. One Weekend a Month is an anti-war film that comes from a personal place. Director Eric Escobar’s parents are both Vietnam Veterans, his father terminally ill from the effects of Agent Orange. Shot in 35 mm, One Weekend also features an original soundtrack by Indigo Girls’s Emily Saliers. Eric began making documentaries for the African-American Studies Department of University of California- Berkeley. His first film, Night Light, was featured at the 2003 Sundance Festival.
