Lisa Hardmeyer is a SIFF 2007 Fly Filmmaker. You can see her film, The Bridge at this year’s Seattle International Film Festival.

An exploration of how black girls perceive white European features as the standard of beauty. A film highlight is the recreation of the sociological Black doll-White doll experiment of the 1950’s.

Excerpts from the film journal of the folklorist, sociologist, and author of Their Eyes Were Watching God. Zora Neale Hurston 1891-1960, whose mentor gave her a film camera and lauded her as a sociologist but avowed she was more artist.

Seattle independent music talent Andrea Wittgens performs in a dance marathon hall, inspired by the film, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? Sue Corcoran used a view master as a storytelling device and to further spotlight Wittgens as a classically trained pianist, she added hand puppets as the hero and heroine.
